Westinghouse H216A-1 16 inch pop-up console TV. This set uses the rather long 16AP4 metal shell picture tube. In order to reduce the depth of the cabinet so that it would not stick so far out from the wall, the designers decided to place the picture tube on a hinged, tilt out (pop-up) part of the cabinet. When the set is not operating, the picture tube tilts back into the cabinet and stows inside the cabinet in the vertical position as seen in the photo above. A cabinet lid then drops down and covers the picture tube so the cabinet has a flat surface. When you want to watch the set, you lift the lid covering the picture tube, and grab onto the part of the cabinet that houses the picture tube and pul it up and forward out of the cabinet as show in the picture below.
